General Description - Kevex 7048 Dedicated Wafer Analysis System:
* Kevex S7048 is an on-line X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) Wafer Analysis System capable of the simultaneous determination of film thickness and composition. XRF is a rapid, non-destructive, multi-element technique that provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional methods of wafer analysis in a production environment.
* System configuration includes a Kevex 7000 Unispecâ„¢ Analyzer with built-in microprocessor for data reduction, color-coded video display and interactive keyboard, Kevex 9250B Automated Wafer Sample Chamber, and PROM-based ElectroneX Wafer Analysis Software.
* Quantitation with System 7048 gives good precision and accuracy for elements of atomic number equal to or greater than 11. Analysis time, program type, and min/max concentration limits may be easily changed. The use of innovative firmware allows analyses to be carried out by personnel without extensive technical training
General Description - Kevex 7078 Advanced Wafer Analysis System:
* The Kevex S7078 Advanced Wafer Analysis System offers the same features as the dedicated system as well as providing the capability for sophisticated materials analysis. In addition to the microprocessor employed in the 7048, the system is configured with DEC LSI 11/2 minicomputer for data reduction and Quantitation of films and bulk samples beyond the scope of either the ElectroneX or standard curve fitting programs.
* A dual floppy disk drive is provided for storage of programs and data. The basic program set includes ElectroneX, Save and Recall Spectra, Least Square Curve Fitting, Spectrum Matching (for correlation and/or identification), and standard firmware including MLK markers.
* Model 7078 can be optionally equipped with Quantex-Ray software for a full range of XRF programs. Alternative options include software packages and an appropriate switching device to enable the user to perform quantitative microanalysis with an SEM or microprobe.
* Present software development is directed toward creating programs that allow the user to define his own film analysis system. ElectroneX software updates will be supplied as soon as they become available for purchase.

General Description - Kevex 9250B Sample Chamber:
* The 9250B Sample Chamber is a new addition to an already impressive list of Kevex x-ray fluorescence analytical instruments. Designed for optimized single sample, non-destructive analysis, it consists of a cabinet mounted excitation source, a sample chamber and a solid state detector subsystem. The 9250 B makes XRF analysis fast, accurate and easy through a combination of several innovative features.
General System Configuration - Kevex 9250B Sample Chamber:
* The 9250B is a single sample system employing manual loading of the shielded sample drawer. The drawer will accommodate samples as large as six inches in diameter and two inches high. A variety of materials such as bulk samples, liquids and powders may be effectively analyzed.
* Optimized source-sample-detector geometry maximizes the efficiency of x-ray tube flux for accurate analysis. The grounded anode x-ray tube output power of nine watts or less, effectively excites the sample and achieves high data rates. Because the tube output is efficient at such low power levels, water cooling systems are not required.
Special Features - Kevex 9250B Sample Chamber:
* Collimators and filters may be placed in up to six externally changeable positions on the built-in filter-collimator wheel. Collimators may be used to restrict the x-ray beam to areas ranging in size from two millimeters up to one and one half centimeters. Filters are used to optimize the spectral characteristics of the excitation beam, and to reduce the effects of beam scattering.
* Rapid, efficient vacuum pump down is possible with the 9250B Sample Chamber. A reduced pressure of 600 microns or is achieved in 20 - 25 seconds. Vacuum operation can be completely automated. With optional fully automated systems, a value of 600 microns is factory preset. All the operator need do is place the sample in the chamber and close the drawer. The chamber will pump down and begin data acquisition automatically.
* The 9250B has been tailored for use with a Kevex 7045 or 7077 Analytical Spectrometer, or a Kevex 6600. A variety of firmware and software options can be purchased to allow flexibility in the types of samples to be analyzed and the data reduction techniques possible. Both quantitative and qualitative analyses can be performed with a minimum of system calibration.

* Sampler Holder: Drawer slides into the vacuum chamber. Delrin plastic inserts hold samples up to 6 inches (15.2 cm) in diameter, by 2 inches (5 cm) high.
* Collimator/Filter Holder: Deck mounted control knob allows selection of any one of 6 transmission filters and/or collimators between tube and sample
* Detector: 30 mm^2 active area with 0.5 mil Be window.
* Resolution: 165 eV measured for 5.9 keV x-rays from Fe test source at 1000 cps.

* X-Ray Tube Type: Side window, air cooled, grounded anode with 5 mil Be window.

* Rear Panel Connections: Gravity fill for liquid nitrogen (LN); Vacuum hose; BNC Connectors for detector voltage, preamp signal out, and LN level alarm; Winchester connector for preamp power, male and female grounded 115 Volts AC connectors allow 100, 120, 220, 240 Volts AC at 50/60 Hz to optional vacuum pump; connector for ON/OFF pump control.
* Environmental Operating Temperature: 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit)
