Magnetic Base with Fine Adjustment for Dial Indicator Here’s a nice tool for the machinist, auto mechanic or anyone looking to mount a precision measurement tool such as a dial indicator. This is a magnetic base to allow the mounting of a dial indicator in a position to take measurements, often on a moving part. With the dial indicator mounted in this base and placed on a metal part of the suspension, the runout of a brake disc or drum on a vehicle can be easily measured to determine if the part is usable. Machinists use these bases with a dial indicator to check their work on a lathe, for example. This base has a knob on it to allow the use to turn the magnet on or off. This allows easy removal from the project when you need to move the device or you're finished with it, and allows easy clean-up of metal chips or filings. Several adjustments allow the measuring tool to be positioned exactly where it is needed, even at an odd angle, and a fine adjustment actually allows the support rod to "bend" in the middle to set the indicator exactly where it is needed. This provides a faster means of calibration and setup to save time. There is a clamp with a threaded knob to hold the indicator to the gauge rod, and a swivel to angle the gauge rod from the upright post. A lock nut secures the upright post to the base. The base is heavy to provide stability while measurements are being taken. This is a necessary tool to increase the versatility of your dial indicator. Note that the indicator is not supplied with this base and is available in another sale. Be sure to check my store listings as well. Thanks for checking out my sales!
