Here you have all of the components needed to convert a New Hermes Vangaurd 3000 engraver to a LASER ENGRAVER! If you have the mechanical expertise, you could probably use these components to convert nearly ANY CNC engraver to engrave and cut with the laser. OR, you might have some other ideas for this laser system. The uses are endless! The DC power supply is a modified X-ray tube head. It contains a high voltage transformer and two high current, high voltage rectifiers. The head is filled with insulating oil, and is quite heavy. At full line voltage (not recommended!) the output will peak at about 80KV. It must be operated at reduced voltage for the laser. I placed a mark on the Variac scale which shows the correct operating point for this laser tube. You must not operate the tube at higher voltage because the tube will overheat, and the laser power will actually decrease. IF YOU HAVE LITTLE OR NO EXPERIENCE WITH CO2 LASERS AND OPTICS, PLEASE LEARN ABOUT THEM FROM A KNOWLEDGEABLE PERSON BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO USE THIS LASER SYSTEM.
