Here we have 2 old single post Mosler? inner safe door or safe deposit locks. They both have the number P-59000 in the upper left corner. In the upper right corner is found a patent number and a note that reads patented in Canada in 1931. Both aparently take two keys to open them. Both are the same dimensions which are as follows: the case or body is slightly longer than 3 3/4" by 1 9/16" wide by 1 3/16" deep. The bolt extends 3/4" and is about 3/4" wide with a lip or hook on the end. The body or case looks like brass as well as the wafers that can be seen through the different openings in the cover plate. The post is about 3/4" in diameter and 1 3/8" high. There are four holes for mounting, one on each of the 4 corners. One looks like it may have seen a wetter location than the other. The cover plate is a bit rusty and the face of the post has some brown paint on it. There are three flat steel keys on two different rings with one of them having no cuts on it. The two that have cuts on them are different. These keys are about 3 7/8" long and 5/16" wide. All these keys fit in the side of the post with a straight slot. There are 4 keys with grooves down the full length of the keys which fit in the wavy side of the post. These keys are about 3 1/4" long by 3/8" wide. All 4 have the name Mosler on the head. 2 of these keys have the number GM 37676 on htem as well. We are unsure of what these locks were used for. When the keys of both kinds are inserted in the post they will turn about one fourth of the way, but I cannot get the bolts to retract. Probably whoever would use these type of lock would know how to get the bolt to retract, if it is supposed to. (We do not proofread any ads submitted by members) |
