This receptacle tester plugs into 110 volt outlets. Simply plug in and watch red or amber indicators. The unit detects faulty wiring in a three wire receptacle. It is very difficult to know if an outlet is wired properly. Most wire men are not electricians and believe that the wires in the outlet are connected either way. If you were to look at an outlet at the hardware, you wouls see one set of gold and one set of silver screws. These indicate the wiring configeration. Appliances pluged into the outlets may work even if the wiring is incorrect. This unit verifies the wiring. The unit tests for open ground, open neutral, open hot wire, hot or reverse ground, hot neutral reverse and correct wiring. The voltage detector checks for the presence of voltage, check circuit breakers and fuses. Useful in determining if the body of appliances are free of leakage volts.
