This Brazed Plate Heat Exchanger consists of chevron plates of acid-resistant stainless steel. Every other plate is reversed so the ridges of the herringbone pattern intersect one another on adjacent plates forming a lattice on contact points. When these points are vacuum brazed together, two separate systems of channels for two media flow in counter-current are formed. The lattice structure causes vigorous turbulence, thus ensuring maximum heat transfer.
This brazed type heat exchanger consists a series of thin and corrugated stainless steel plates. The plates are compressed and brazed together with copper. This creates flow channels between plates, with one fluid in odd number channels and the other in the even number channels. Different from the gasket seal type, brazing type uses soldering material (in this case copper) to seal the exchanger. By applying high temperatures in a vacuum, the soldering material melts down to form the seal between each plate.
All plates are SUS316 material with copper brazing. These materials offer high corrosion resistance against many kinds of fluids. Contact us if you need a heat exchanger for highly acidic liquids, we also stock nickel brazed heat exchangers.
Thanks to the brazing process, this heat exchanger has a maximum allowable pressure of 30 bar (445 psi). It has been tested at 43 bar.
Carefully designed plate pattern of the corrugated plates easily achieve high thermal transfer rate in either counter flow or parallel flow arrangement.
SUS316 material structure offers high working temperature range up to 150℃ (302°F). It has been tested to 200°C.
Brazed Plate Heat Exchangers (BPHE) are much lighter and smaller in weight and size compare to shell tube exchangers; about 1/5 the size of the shell tube exchanger with the same capacity. This advantage makes BPHE easier to install and replace.
The corrugated plates are designed to achieve turbulence flow at low flow rates, no need for frequent maintenance.
BPHE can be used for various mediums with pH between 7 - 8:
-Many types of refrigerants (Do NOT use ammonia with copper brazing)
-Industrial Chiller, plastic machines, welding machines, hydraulic presses (oil) and compressor oil cool
-Temperature holding for storage tanks
-Heat recovery including heat recycling from hot steam
-Indoor heating including floor heating
-Closed Loop Solar Hot Water Systems
