Acetal, marketed under Acetron GP®, Delrin®, and Celcon®, is an engineering plastic with excellent machining characteristics and low moisture absorption, making it ideal for tight tolerance applications. In the unfilled state, most Acetals are FDA, USDA, NSF and 3A Dairy compliant which allows for their widespread use throughout the food processing industry. Acetal is an excellent material for high moisture or submerged bearings and wear applications. Since Acetal absorbs only minimal amounts of moisture, Acetal bearings will typically out wear Nylon bearings 4 to 1 in wet applications.
