The tail stock quill is activated by an air cylinder that holds the part in place. 3 HP on Spindle, 1 HP on Traverse This machine is in excellent running condition. The machine has been powered up and runs well. Machine History: This is a Precision Drum Burnishing Lathe. Typical use is to fabricate a fine finish on drums such as those for copier machines. The operator controls include: emergency stop, automatic cycle start, air mist, Auto or Manual selector switch, main motor start, traverse start, and speed pots to control the speed of the spindle, traverse forward and traverse reverse. The length of the traverse is set via linear cams that activate switches on the bed of the machine. The machine is equipped with a Bijur spray mist to keep the part cool. The Bijur system is Type UBA Ser #RI, 110/120, 50/60 hz. 8 watts. It is possible that this can be used as a conventional lathe with proper tooling. This machine does not have any tooling with it other than what is on the machine at present. Sequence of operation: Set your speeds on the main spindle and traverse motions via the speed pots. Place the part in the main spindle tooling and engage the tail stock air cylinder to hold the part in place. Run the machine in either manual mode or automatic mode.
